Teaching is more than a career; it's a calling; to me, means, that when you are walking in your call of teaching : 1) you love what you do, and will do it freely; many times, without hesitation 2) you will go the "extra mile" as needed, and 3) your greatest reward is when the "light comes on," as a struggling student comprehends, or masters the subject matter.

I first realized the call of teaching on my life when I found myself engrossed with teaching children; regardless of whether I knew them personally or not. I found myself drawn to teaching them whether on planes, in a crowd, at gatherings, etc., I always found myself inspiring children in one aspect or another. Many others, actually, noticed the teaching call on my life, before I realized it myself. I have always had a drive to inspire the next generation.

The thing that I love best about teaching is the opportunity to shape and motivate young minds to reach their greatest potential. When I see scholars’ lives empowered to achieve success- that's better than a monetary reward!

My mission in life is to leave a lasting, positive impression; a sense of self-worth, with every scholar, that leads to lifelong learning. I desire to impart into students that "yes, you can do anything, if you try; but it all starts with the first step- if you believe it, you can achieve it!

One of my fondest memories was when a mother of five children, realized her last child was actually on my class roster. It was very humbling when she excitedly stated, "Yes, thank you, Jesus, I prayed for my children to be in your class; and now my BABY; my last child, is in your class!"

Another incident was when the grandmother of a former student, called AND sent me a note to school, to ask if her granddaughter could spend some time with me, maybe once or twice a week, after school, to help or assist with anything that I may need, because I had made a lasting impression on her grandchild. I prayed about it, and agreed to allow her to assist after completing her homework each day. Needless to say, she was such a blessing to me, that I ended up mentoring her-on into middle school, and still today! She is an outstanding young lady today, that is destined for greatest! Yes, teaching is more than a career; it’s a calling!
