Mrs. Wilson’s story
April 11, 2021
Teaching is definitely my calling! I have poured so much of myself into what I teach and have invested so much time and energy trying to find new fun ways to teach kids. I love watching that "lightbulb moment" when a kid finally understands a concept. It is so rewarding! So rarely does my job feel like a job! It's a great feeling to love what you do every day and I'm so blessed to be at a great school district where my creativity can shine! It took me a while to figure out that I was called to be a teacher, but once I decided that's what I wanted to do, I never looked back! As a 2nd grade teacher, my goal is that every student in my classroom feels loved, and grows to love learning! I once heard a tip for teachers that said "imagine if you were able to peak into the window of your own classroom while you were teaching. Would it be a place where you would want to be a student?" I have lived by that philosophy. 2nd graders want to be in a room where the excitement of learning is contagious! I make it a point every day to smile at my students, really get to know them, and present materials in a way that is engaging and peaks their interest. Watching their faces light up when we are singing our morning cheer, play pie-face during an author's purpose review, or transforming my room into. chick-fil-a restaurant to review math skills, makes my job the best job ever! I am proud to be a teacher!
